I'm not a cheerleader

For politics, that is. About a year ago I decided to start acting more like a grown up and listen to news radio instead of shake-what-ya-mama-gave-ya music all the time. I must admit I've found that I have missed a lot that goes on on not just in my state but this country as a whole.

Minnesota went through a government shutdown the beginnig of July for a few weeks. Appartently there was a shut down in '05 as well and that I certainly had no clue about. In all honesty, I still don't know what Minnesota achieved by this shut down other closing state parks and also scaring the hell out of my mama, who would have been layed off if it had continued.

Anyhow, yesterday the folks running this country saved us from going into debt...for now. I don't understand what exactly went down but apparently the different polical parties agreed on something which involved cutting money to Education. Education? Really? Aren't these kids going to be running this country one day? As you can see from my ignorance of our government should show that we need better education in this country.

Really I'm no cheerleader for any one on the political spectrim but is it me or is cutting from Education plain old stupid? Almost makes me wish I'd stayed oblivious to it all. At least then I'd still be shaking my booty.

Sitting here...

All alone. Well not really alone. I have two sleeping boys in the other rooms. Hubby is gone to pray the taraweeh prayer. So here I am by myself and it feels a bit strange. I am so used to being needed for something. Even if it's just sitting for tea with my husband. Don't get me wrong, I love that but I must admit, this...this is kind of nice.

I hardly get just "me time." I mean, I have times of being alone but I'm usually doing something for our family or our home. I know this probably sounds silly, but I almost don't know what to do with myself now. No that's not true...I know what I should be doing. Preparing for sahoor tomorrow, getting myself clothes to wear to work tomorrow, reading Qu'ran (especially since it's Ramadan now) and something I desperately need, SLEEP (my six month old still sleeps like a newborn at times)! Despite knowing what I should be doing, I am doing what feels right and that's just writing and listening to the quiet of the house. It's peaceful.

Me time. Who would have thought it'd be so nice? :-)
